Tom and I are and so blest to be able to phone call Presque Isle our domicile. We are even more than excited nigh bringing yous the local news from our communities! We moved hither with our 5 children to first over and have a more peaceful life. Along with my sister in-law and father in-constabulary, nosotros have been making the transition to this new life. I have to admit I wasn't so certain nearly the snow, cold, and sand covered roads... but I had my aha moment. It came just when the starting time snow of the flavour did.

Nosotros were driving down the route afterwards the first snow and thinking about all the friends nosotros were making. All the new relationships and business owners who had opened up the idea of the newspaper to us. I await over and I see the head lights of the snowmobiles and I was overwhelmed with emotion.

I remembered thinking, Thank y'all God for providing for the businesses that rely then much on the snow and the people that come to share in our trails and the dearest of this magical place. I knew then that we were abode. The people here, they are nothing like nosotros have ever experienced before. They are kind, downwardly to globe and honest. They tell information technology similar information technology is and don't saccharide glaze the truth. They genuinely care and recall y'all when you walk into the room. I am forever grateful for every single one of you.

This paper is more then just news. Information technology is a beacon of hope in a time that is full of so much negativity and the unknown of tomorrow. This newspaper is a source to bring our communities closer when the earth is doing its best to keep us apart. It is a source to introduce others to why we dear upnorth so much! Information technology is a place to remember and treasure our pasts and share it with the future generations, while making new memories.

We cannot expect to hear your stories, see the artists and meet all of you lot. Please keep spreading the word and God Bless you all.

Artist's Statement

Moving to Northern Wisconsin has put me under a spell. I see a grove of birch copse, reflections from a kayak or fifty-fifty a elementary a puddle in the route, and I am moved to paint. Here, more than anywhere else on earth.

I pigment in oils with a limited color palette for harmony. I oft let a complementary color "underpaint" of orange or red peek through in places to bring life and vibration to the colors. E'er inspired by the simple everyday beauty surrounding united states, I cull subjects that impact my centre - or perchance they choose me! My goal is to share an appreciation for the unproblematic beauties that can easily escape u.s.a. in our decorated everyday lives.

After their kids aged out of Scouting, they continued making frequent wilderness camping ground trips on their ain. Both life-long Wisconsin natives they decided in 2016 that they were ready to purchase a property in the Northwoods.

A fan of canoes (he has 11, or as he likes to say, "Non even a dozen.") and of Sig Olson's writings, the goal was to find a place like Sig's Listening Point.  Though it seemed impossible with the budget available one splendid morning, with the rain coming down and the mosquitoes attacking, they stepped out of the Jeep and fell in love with a yr-round cabin in Winchester. With the loons swimming past the dock and the current of air coming through the big white pines they decided to call their place, with the nod to Sig- Whispering Signal. Now they, with their springer Otca, spend as much time as possible at their motel.

Having retired after 30 years of teaching art in the D.C. Everest District at every level from Kindergarten to High School, Tim is now enjoying his dear for photography. While he'south done everything from portraits, to weddings, to instruction Loftier School photography- he now concentrates on combining his honey of the outdoors to create nature and fine fine art photographs. With the bulk of his photography concentrated in the Northwoods information technology seemed natural to name the photography endeavor- Whispering Point Photography.

His piece of work every bit appeared in numerous Wisconsin art shows over the last ten years and, in the summer of 2019, they purchased a tent set-up and attended many local Northwoods events displaying the photography. While 2020 was pretty much a wash out for shows, they're looking forward to 2021 and hoping to be able to get out again equally they enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people at the events.
